Islamabad: Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani informed the House today that the government is taking prudent measures to promote the electric vehicle (EV) industry in the country.
According to Radio Pakistan, the minister highlighted that the government has already launched ‘The New Energy Vehicle Policy 2025-30’. This policy introduces demand-side incentives, including financing support and subsidies under the Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification (PAVE) scheme, specifically targeting two and three-wheelers.
The government has allocated a sum of 9 billion rupees for the current financial year to subsidize around 116,000 electric bikes and 3,000 electric rickshaws/loaders under the PAVE scheme. The policy also aims to establish 3,000 charging stations nationwide by 2030.
The House will reconvene tomorrow at 11 in the morning.
