Islamabad: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, emphasized that good governance is crucial for the stability and security of Pakistan. Speaking at a news conference in Rawalpindi, he highlighted the state's commitment to engaging directly with the people of Balochistan to ensure sustainable development in the province.
According to Radio Pakistan, the DG ISPR stressed the importance of empowering the people of Balochistan rather than appeasing the elite or "sardars." He affirmed the armed forces' obligation to protect the honour, property, and lives of all citizens, while also making it clear that those supporting terrorism will face consequences. Thousands of operations have been conducted to eliminate terrorism, particularly in collaboration with the Balochistan Police.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry noted that over three hundred Indian websites are working to foment terrorism in Balochistan, with fifty-four percent of the propaganda originating from India. He also addressed the operations against illegal economic activities, which have resulted in the seizure of smuggled goods and narcotics worth billions of rupees.
He further outlined various development projects underway in Balochistan, including the Mangi Dam, Kachhi Canal, and the Pakistan Expressway. The Director General highlighted that substantial investments are being made in socio-economic development, with the establishment of new educational institutions and healthcare facilities each month.
The capacity of the Balochistan Police is being enhanced through modern training and equipment, and the establishment of FC West aims to safeguard the mineral corridor from Chagai to Karachi. Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry reported that of the 40,348 intelligence-based operations conducted across the country this year, more than 31,000 occurred in Balochistan, resulting in the deaths of 2,084 terrorists.
Reiterating the State's stance, he stated that there will be no dialogue with terrorists, who must surrender in accordance with the law. Addressing governance, he called for the strengthening of administrative units, stressing that such decisions should be made by political leadership in alignment with the Constitution and public will.
In response to a question about the demands of the banned Joint Awami Action Committee in Azad Kashmir, he asserted that Kashmir remains an unfinished agenda from the Partition and should be resolved legally and constitutionally, without allowing individuals to take the law into their own hands.
