Global Challenges Require Collective Action: President


Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari emphasized that the global challenges, whether economic, environmental, or security-related, necessitate collective action. He articulated these views while addressing a dinner at Aiwan-e-Sadr, held in honor of delegates attending the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference in Islamabad.



According to Radio Pakistan, the President warmly welcomed the participants, highlighting that the conference has not only fostered constructive debate but also reinforced the spirit of parliamentary diplomacy. He praised the role of parliamentarians from various countries in demonstrating how dialogue and mutual respect can promote peace, development, and stability.



The President noted that the Conference has paved the way for genuine discussions and opened new avenues for cooperation among global parliaments. He lauded Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani for his leadership, which has been instrumental in transforming the conference into an effective platform for inter-parliamentary engagement. He expressed optimism that the Conference would continue to evolve as a forum for constructive collaboration and shared progress.



Chairman Senate, in his remarks, expressed gratitude to the President for hosting the delegates and acknowledged his ongoing support for parliamentary diplomacy. He highlighted the adoption of the Islamabad Communique as a significant achievement of the conference, describing it as a shared blueprint for peace, a framework for security, and a pathway to inclusive growth, which should guide collective efforts toward a fairer and more peaceful world.



The three-day Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference, which concluded today, gathered speakers, deputy speakers, and parliamentary representatives from more than 40 countries to deliberate on “Peace, Security and Development.” The event was attended by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, and several federal ministers.
