Islamabad:The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced that the first phase of local government elections in Punjab will be conducted on February 7 of the upcoming year.

According to Radio Pakistan, the decision was made by a four-member bench of the Election Commission, led by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja. The case regarding the local government elections in Punjab was heard in Islamabad.

The choice of the date was influenced by the provincial government's request to schedule the elections in January or February next year, with consideration given to improved weather conditions in February.
