Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has given the green light to a proposal from the Power Division concerning a winter demand initiative aimed at industrial, domestic, commercial, and general services consumers of Distribution Companies (DISCOs) and K-Electric.
According to Radio Pakistan, the decision was made during an ECC meeting chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. The initiative is designed to optimize the use of system generation capacity and alleviate gas demand by encouraging a shift in consumer demand towards electricity.
The approved initiative stipulates that a tariff of 26.07 rupees will be applied to all eligible consumers based on their incremental consumption exceeding the benchmark set for the corresponding months. This initiative will be in effect for a three-month billing period from December to February, aiming to balance the energy mix and manage resources efficiently.
