Lahore: The 50th death anniversary of renowned Urdu poet and writer, Nazar Muhammad Rashid, commonly known as Noon Meem Rashid, was observed on Thursday. He was born on August 1, 1910, in Alipur Chattha district, Gujranwala.
According to Radio Pakistan, Noon Meem Rashid was an influential Pakistani poet of modern Urdu poetry. Along with Miraji, he is considered a father of modernism or free verse in Urdu poetry. Rashid’s first poetry collection, Mawra, was published in 1941, marking a significant contribution to the literary world. He passed away on this day in London in 1975.
