Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir, has issued a stern warning against the hostile elements aiming to incite violence and destabilize the Balochistan province, asserting that their nefarious designs will not be permitted to succeed.
According to Radio Pakistan, General Munir made these remarks during his interaction with participants of the 15th National Workshop Balochistan at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. He emphasized the government's ongoing efforts to enhance the socioeconomic landscape of Balochistan, highlighting the tangible benefits already materializing from various development projects. The Army Chief sought to dispel any disinformation regarding these initiatives' scope and impact.
General Munir acknowledged the crucial role played by civil society members in raising awareness, especially among the youth, facilitating progress and prosperity in the region. He noted that foreign-sponsored terrorism poses the most significant threat to Balochistan's security and development.
Reiterating Pakistan's commitment to confronting terrorism, General Munir asserted that terrorism transcends religion, sect, or ethnicity and must be countered with steadfast national unity. He condemned terrorist groups exploiting the Baloch identity for insidious agendas, labeling them as a stain on Baloch honor and patriotism.
The Army Chief further stressed Pakistan's desire for peace within the region and beyond, warning that any violation of Pakistan's sovereignty will be met with a forceful response to uphold national prestige and the well-being of its citizens. He affirmed the continued efforts of Pakistan's Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies in combating terrorism with full public support.
