Srinagar: Civil society activists in Srinagar have strongly rejected the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Hindutva regime’s claims of peace and normalcy in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, saying the ground realities belie New Delhi’s propaganda.
According to Radio Pakistan, the activists said daily killings, arbitrary arrests, raids, and cordon-and-search operations expose the hollow nature of India’s narrative.
They said the Modi regime continues to manipulate facts and figures to sustain a false image of normalcy before the international community, while the territory remains under a climate of fear and militarization.
They said over one million Indian troops are deployed across the territory, making IIOJK the world’s most militarized zone.
Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party has condemned the provocative and belligerent remarks made by India’s political and military leadership, warning that such irresponsible statements could destabilize South Asia.
Meanwhile, the Leh Apex Body and Kargil Democratic Alliance have denounced the continued restrictions on communication and public gatherings in Ladakh, saying the Modi regime is intimidating activists and suppressing voices of dissent.
LAB co-chairman Chering Dorjay Lakrook said true normalcy can only return when restrictions are lifted and rights restored.
The Srinagar-Jammu highway, the main link between Kashmir Valley and the rest of the world, has been closed for traffic after landslides and shooting stones at several locations.
