Gilgit: The Chief Election Commissioner of Gilgit-Baltistan, Raja Shahbaz Khan, has announced the election schedule for the upcoming Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly polls.
According to Radio Pakistan, Raja Shahbaz Khan addressed reporters in Gilgit, outlining the comprehensive timeline for the electoral process. Nomination papers for candidates will be accepted from the 16th to the 20th of this month, with the preliminary list of candidates set to be released on the 21st.
The scrutiny of these nomination papers is expected to conclude by the 28th of this month. Following this, any appeals will be adjudicated by the 9th of the next month. Candidates will have the option to withdraw their nominations by the 11th of next month.
The election symbols will be allotted, and the final list of candidates will be issued on the 12th of next month. Raja Shahbaz Khan confirmed that the polling for the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly general elections is scheduled for June 7 this year.
The Chief Election Commissioner assured that all necessary preparations have been finalized to conduct free, fair, and transparent elections.
