Lahore: The 148th birth anniversary of the national poet, Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, will be observed across the country with national fervor on Sunday. Known as the Poet of the East, Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal was born in Sialkot on November 9, 1877. He played a pivotal role in awakening the Muslims of the Subcontinent through his poetry and political insight, notably presenting the idea of the creation of Pakistan during his historic address at Allahabad in 1930.
According to Radio Pakistan, Allama Iqbal’s address provided a clear direction and distinct identity for the Muslims of the Sub-Continent, ultimately leading to the formation of Pakistan. A change of guard ceremony is scheduled to take place at Mazar-e-Iqbal in Lahore on Sunday to honor his contributions.
Additionally, the Embassy of Trkiye in Islamabad commemorated the birth anniversary of Allama Muhammad Iqbal with a special event titled ‘Muhammad Iqbal: The Great Poet of the East.’ The celebration included the inauguration of a photo exhibition called ‘Common Heroes,’ highlighting the shared cultural heritage and contributions of the poet.
