Accra:Federal Secretary Information and Broadcasting and Managing Director of Pakistan Television Corporation, Ashfaq Ahmad Khalil, has highlighted the importance of media collaboration to bolster the ties between Pakistan and China. He emphasized the need for increased cooperation between Pakistan Television and China Media Group, particularly in areas like joint documentary production.

According to Radio Pakistan, during an interview with China Media Group's CGTN Urdu program "Top View," Khalil stated that the media is crucial in strengthening the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China and fostering closer ties between their citizens.

Khalil underscored the exemplary nature of the 75-year-long relationship between the two countries, noting the significant contributions of both public and private media in enhancing bilateral relations. He suggested that existing agreements and contacts be leveraged into practical cooperation through joint media projects, including documentaries.

He also highlighted the role of various media forms—print, electronic, and digital—in raising awareness about the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor's importance and benefits. Khalil called for more strategic communication through coordinated efforts between Pakistan Television and China Media Group.

Khalil pointed out the growing impact of digital media, stressing the importance of providing timely, authentic information and countering misinformation. He noted the role of the Digital Communication Department of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in addressing false information and supplying facts to the public.

On cultural ties, Khalil remarked that exchanging cultural heritage and traditions could enhance people-to-people contacts. He mentioned Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar's proposal to invite Chinese social media influencers to Pakistan to explore its culture, language, and cuisine, which could promote mutual cultural awareness and understanding.

Expressing confidence in stronger media cooperation, Khalil believes it will further solidify the friendship, mutual understanding, and people-to-people ties between Pakistan and China. He affirmed that the relationship is rooted in mutual trust and cooperation, with China consistently supporting Pakistan during tough times and vice versa.

Khalil expressed optimism that the friendship between the two nations will continue to strengthen in the future.
