Analyst Praises DPM Ishaq Dar for Advocating Pakistan’s Stand on Global Stage

Islamabad: Dr. Muhammad Khan, an expert in international relations, has lauded Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar for his efforts in raising awareness about Pakistan's perspective on key issues during meetings and speeches at the United Nations and in the United States.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ishaq Dar has been addressing matters concerning Pakistan's relations with India, aligning them with the country's national policy.

One of the primary concerns highlighted is the Kashmir issue, which remains a significant point of contention between Pakistan and India. Both nations have historically engaged in conflicts over this matter. The illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir by India is a major concern for Pakistan and the Kashmiri people, as per the UN charter and resolutions that promise a plebiscite for the people of Jammu and Kashmir under UN supervision. Despite India's global commitment to adhere to these resolutions, recent actions, such as the annexation of Jammu and Kashmir into its union territory in 2019, have escalated tensions. Pakistan maintains that progress can only be made if India acknowledges Jammu and Kashmir as a disputed territory.

Another pressing issue is water, linked closely to the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The suspension of the Indus Water Treaty by India, citing the Pahalgam false flag operation, is a significant concern for Pakistan, which insists that the treaty cannot be terminated unilaterally. Pakistan emphasizes the necessity of including the Indus Water Treaty in any composite dialogue with India.

The current Indian government, described as hardliner and fundamentalist, has been perceived as an obstacle to resolving these bilateral issues. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, along with his diplomatic team, is working to promote Pakistan's narrative of peace and non-aggression, urging India to engage in negotiations to settle all outstanding disputes.
