Islamabad: Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has directed officials concerned to prioritize completing the Diamer-Bhasha Dam project within the stipulated time. He was chairing a meeting in Islamabad today, to review PSDP Budget proposals against the Indicative Budget Ceiling of 1,000 billion rupees allocated to Federal Ministries and Divisions for FY 2025-26 by the Finance Ministry.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister highlighted that water shortage is an urgent problem and the completion of the Diamer-Bhasha Dam project will not only help overcome this problem but will also generate 4,500 megawatts of electricity. He emphasized that new projects should be prioritized in order of their significance to the national development agenda, URAAN Pakistan.
Ahsan Iqbal directed all ministries concerned to focus on projects which are most critical and in advanced stages of completion. He also instructed the ministries to prepare a list of important and critical projects at risk of suffering due to reductions in the development budget.
