Karachi: The fifty-third martyrdom anniversary of Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed, who was posthumously awarded the Nishan-e-Haider, was observed on Thursday. Known for his extraordinary bravery, Major Akram played a pivotal role during the 1971 War, particularly in the fierce Battle of Hilli.According to Radio Pakistan, Major Muhammad Akram was born on April 4, 1938, in a small village named Dinga near Kharian Cantt. His fearless leadership and strategic acumen during the battle enabled him to repulse numerous enemy attacks, inflicting heavy casualties on opposing forces. His actions in the battle of Hilli remain a testament to his valor and dedication.Major Akram's final resting place is in the village of Boaldar, located in District-Dinajpur, Bangladesh, where he was laid to rest following his martyrdom. His legacy is remembered and honored annually, with tributes paid to his courage and sacrifice.
