Zardari asks detractors of the Party to have patience

Islamabad: Co-Chairman PPP President Asif Ali Zardari has asked the detractors of the Party to have patience and wait till the next elections and trust the wisdom of the people in choosing their government. He said the PPP with so many achievements to its credit is confident that it will triumph yet again in the ultimate court of the people and at the bar of public opinion.

During his meeting with the Party ticket holders and later with the workers of the Party here at Prime Minister’s House Multan, the President said that the leadership of the Party was aware of the problems being faced by the people and was undertaking all possible efforts to overcome those problems and provide relief to the people.

The President said that the policies initiated by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto were most unwisely discontinued in the past resulting into the present crisis. Had the energy policies initiated by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto been allowed to continue, our people would not have been suffering from the present day power shortages.

He said that PPP workers were not merely workers of some political party but they were ideologue of people’s empowerment and of their rights. He said that time had repeatedly tested mettle of the Party’s leadership that that of its workers but every time we emerged successful and rose to the people’s expectations.

The President called upon the Party workers and office bearers to continue with their mission of serving the down-trodden people of the country regardless of the criticism and intolerance of their political opponents.

We don’t believe in any vendetta or political victimization. We believe in following the way that our Shaheed leaders has shown to us, the President said. He said that the Party would continue with the policy of reconciliation as it was the only way forward to strengthen democracy and steer the country out of present crisis. Let democracy take its own revenge, the President remarked.

The President also called upon the party workers to reach out to the people of far flung areas and to highlight the achievements of their government.

He said that the Government was working on a pro-people budget and relief would be provided to the common people to mitigate their problems.

The President also invited the participants of the meetings to put forth their suggestions regarding organizational matters of the Party and various issues. The participants exchanged their views with the President in a free and candid manner.

Later, the President also had dinner with the Party workers.
