Srinagar, July 22, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairperson of Kashmir Tehreek-e-Khawateen (KTK), Zamruda Habib, expressing concern over the continued detention of youth and students has said that hundreds of innocent Kashmiris, especially youth, are languishing in different jails of India and occupied Kashmir.
Zamruda Habib in a statement issued in Srinagar deplored that the detained youth were not released even on court orders which was blatant violation of human rights. She said that Engineer Farooq Ahmad Khan, Latif Ahmad Waza and Abdul Ghani Goni were subjected to physical and mental torture in jails of Indian state of Rajasthan.
Zamruda condemned the apathy being shown by the local administration towards the sufferings of these detainees. She demanded release of all Kashmiri prisoners before Eid-ul-Fitr so that they could celebrate the auspicious occasion with their families. The KTK Chairperson called upon the International Society of Red Cross to take up the matter with the Indian government.
