Srinagar, April 27, 2016 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, hundreds of people participated in the funerals prayers in absentia for prominent Kashmiri liberation leader, Amanullah Khan, at Bag-e-Mehtab in Srinagar, today. Hurriyet leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM), Zafar Akbar Butt, led the funeral prayers.
A large number of people including Hurriyet leaders and activists who participated in the funeral prayers paid glowing tributes to the deceased who raised his voice in every corner of the world for the Kashmir cause. Zafar Akbar Butt addressing the gathering highlighted the sacrifices and contribution of Amanullah Khan in the ongoing freedom movement. He said that the deceased leader played a vital role in internationalizing the Kashmir dispute and worked as a Kashmiri diplomat in the entire world.
Zafar Butt also condemned the imposition of restrictions in Srinagar and detention of pro-freedom leadership by the authorities to prevent the leaders and masses in the funeral prayers of the deceased. He appealed to the international community to use their influence to bring an end to human rights violations being perpetrated by Indian forces in occupied Kashmir. He also appealed to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to take up with Indian government the issue of curbs on the religious activities of Kashmiris at the earliest.
