Youths’ arrest sparks protests in Shopian

Srinagar, April 02, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, violent protests continued on second consecutive day, today, in Shopian district against the arrests of youth by Indian police.

The protesters while chanting pro-freedom and anti-India slogans were demanding immediate release of the detained youth including Zubair Ahmad. All shops, business establishments and private offices remained closed in the township. Clash between protesters and Indian paramilitary forces was going on till last reports came in.

Meanwhile, police has also arrested Tehreek-e-Hurriyat district Shopian president, Mohammad Shakir and detained him at Zainapora police station.
