Karachi, November 16, 2016 (PPI-OT): Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Mukesh Kumar Chawla has said that it is our prime duty to save young generation from the menace of use of the drugs because they are our future. This he said while presiding over a meeting here in his office. Secretary Excise and Taxation Dr. Mansoor Abbas Rizvi and Director General E and T Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui also attended the meeting.
DG Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, while briefing the meeting, told that on the directives of minister E and T a crackdown was going on against the drug peddlers and during last 15 days in different raids in Karachi, Hub Chowki, Mirpurkhas, Islamkot, Mithi and other parts of the province, so far hundreds illicit liquor, charas and other drugs had been recovered and many accused had also been arrested while investigations were under way.
Provincial minister E and T directed the officers to speed up their raids against the drug peddlers and narcotics. Emergency steps should be taken against the use of heroine, cocaine, charas and other drugs. He added, ‘ No one is above the law and if any officer shows negligence in this regard, the departmental action will be taken against him’. Mukesh Kumar Chawla said that it was the need of the hour that we should perform our duties honestly and to save the young generation from the use of drugs that was a curse. ‘We are all supposed to work on one page to get our objectives ‘. he concluded.
