Srinagar, February 03, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police arrested the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik, and his associates in Pulwama, today.
The police took Muhammad Yasin Malik along with other party leaders into custody from Awantipora area of Pulwama when they were on their way to Islamabad town. They were scheduled to participate in a demonstration in the town against the Indian Army’s decision of exonerating its personnel involved in the infamous Pathribal fake encounter case.
Besides Yasin Malik, others who were arrested included Bashir Ahmed Butt, Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Sheikh Abdur Rasheed, Mushtaq Ahmed Ajmal, Muhammad Siddique Shah, Bashir Kashmiri, Muhammad Hanif Dar, Shahid Makaya, Muhammad Ibraheem, Ghulam Rasool Hazarvi, Muhammad Ameen and Aashiq Ahmed.
Indian Army personnel had killed five innocent Kashmiris in Pathribal area of Islamabad district on March 25, 2000. The Army had claimed that the killed persons were foreign militants who were involved in the killing of 35 Sikhs in Chattisinghpora area of the same district a few days ago. Later, it came to fore that the victims were innocent civilians and killed in cold-blood by the troops. On January 23, this year, the Army announced to close the Pathribal fake encounter case.
