Srinagar, April 22, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik, has condemned the arrest of pro-liberation leaders and activists by Indian police to prevent them from conducting peaceful election boycott campaign.
The JKLF Chairman, who along with other party leaders including advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri and Muhammad Azeem Zargar remains in police custody, termed the action as undemocratic and unilateral state sponsored violence.
He said that the crackdown, arrests and raids had once again proved that Indian establishment and its cronies in the occupied territory were unable to fight pro-liberation camp politically. India, its puppets and forces must keep in mind that such kinds of atrocities, arrests and oppressive measures could not deter the Kashmiri people from continuing their liberation struggle.
Meanwhile, the JKLF spokesman in a statement in Srinagar said that the police arrested the party activists, Arshid Ahmad Butt, Fayaz Ahmad and Imtiyaz Ahmad, from their houses. Arshid Ahmad lodged at Islamabad district jail while Fayaz Ahmad and Imtiyaz Ahmad at central jail Srinagar.
He said that the police also raided the houses of JKLF leaders and activists including Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi in Padshahi Bagh, Soitaing and Lasjan areas of Srinagar and harassed their kith and kin. He said that the police were also in search of many other JKLF leaders and activists throughout Valley.
