World urged to honour Kashmiris’ freedom aspirations

Srinagar, May 18, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has said that Jammu and Kashmir is not a law and order, an economic or an internal issue, but it is a globally-recognized dispute.

Presiding over a seminar at APHC Headquarters in Srinagar, today, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq called upon the world community to come forward and resolve the Kashmir dispute honouring the Kashmiris’ aspirations for freedom.

He also urged the upcoming Indian government to resolve the Kashmir dispute through tripartite talks between Pakistan, India and true representatives of Kashmir for durable peace in South Asia.

The APHC Chairman said that the change of faces and governments would make no difference until New Delhi changed its policy on Kashmir. He said that India would have to switch from its time pass approach to a realistic approach towards the Kashmir dispute. The people of Kashmir, he added, stood firm by the freedom movement.

He said that the aspirations of the people of Kashmir could not be suppressed through military might. He advised New Delhi to initiate parleys with the Government of Pakistan for peace and prosperity in the South Asian region.

The Mirwaiz paid glowing tributes to prominent martyred liberation leaders, Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq, Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone and the martyrs of Hawal on their martyrdom anniversaries. A documentary film about the martyrs of Hawal was also screened, on the occasion.

The seminar among others was addressed by Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, Agha Syed Mujtaba Abbas Al-Moosvi, Javed Ahmad Mir, Nazir Ahmad Baba, Engineer Hilal, Hakeem Abdur Rasheed, Shahid Saleem, Ghulam Hassan Mir, Bashir Barq and others.
