World Kidney Day observed at Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation

Karachi, March 10, 2017 (PPI-OT):World Kidney Day was observed at SIUT on March 9th.The day is observed all over the world on second Thursday of March. The observance of the day started in 2006 and has not stopped ever since. Every year a campaign is highlighted with a particular theme. This year theme was obesity.

SIUT had arranged a day long activities at its main premises in Karachi city beside another at its Primary Healthcare Centre in Kathore which is part of rural Karachi The prime aim on the part of SIUT was to create awareness in the population about the hazards of kidney diseases and also to provide them facilities on the basis of which they can take precautionary steps or pursue their treatment.

According to sources over 1500 people registered at the SIUT Reporting Centre where various medical exercises were carried out. The exercises included blood testing, pathological investigations, scheduling the dietary habits, and monitoring of blood pressures. Lectures were also delivered by medical experts who spoke about preventive behaviour, about risk factors and also about how to live with kidney ailments. World Kidney Day was also be observed at SIUT Chablani Centre of Sukkur.
