World asked to prevent India from repressive policies in IOK

Geneva, March 09, 2015 (PPI-OT): Speakers at a seminar in Geneva have called upon the international community to impress upon India to end its repressive policies in occupied Kashmir to quell the struggle for right to self determination. The seminar on “Women And Children Rights In Conflict Zones: A Case Study of Kashmir” was organised by OCAPROCE International at the sidelines of the 28th session of UNHRC in Geneva. Kashmiri leader, Altaf Hussain Wani, who is leading a six-member Kashmiri delegation, said that Indian army and paramilitary forces were using rape as weapon of war and there was no accountability for the perpetrators.

Due to blanket impunity Indian army continues to use this tool to humiliate the entire population of Jammu and Kashmir, he deplored. “India has violated all international obligations and commitments. Children in Kashmir have been the worst victims,” he added. Ms Shagufta briefed the participants about the plight of Kashmiri women. Others who spoke on the occasion were Princess Micheline Djouma, M Lamine Dianko and Ms. Saadani.
