Woman found dead, sit-in against loot of forests in IHK

Srinagar, April 16, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, a 22-year-old woman, who was kidnapped last week, was found dead in Pulwama district. Body of the woman was fished out from a stream in village Galbugh in the district.

Meanwhile, the Peoples’ Conference President of Kupwara District, Bashir Ahmed Dar led a protest sit-in in front of District Commissioner’s office Kupwara against the loot and plunder of forests in the Handwara Forest Range.

Dar while talking to the media said that the recent seizures of illicit timber were just a drop in the ocean and there were numerous skeletons in the closets of the authorities and the Forest Department.

“The size of the timber scandal is massive and involves an unholy nexus of administration, forest officials, Indian armed forces and timber smugglers,” Dar said.
