Srinagar, January 22, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (G) leaders, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Bilal Siddiqui and Hakeem Abdul Rashid have asked for whereabouts of Sirajuddin Farooqi, brother-in-law of Mujahid Commander, Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar. Sirajuddin Farooqi was subjected to custodial disappearance on January 22, 1994.The APHC (G) leaders in a joint statement issued in Srinagar said that the lingering Kashmir dispute had resulted in the killing of over 100,000 people, countless cases of torture and rape and more than 10,000 enforced disappearances.
Besides this, illegal detentions, destruction of property and other forms of human rights violations remain a common practice in the territory, they added. The leader appealed to the international human rights organizations to take strong notice of the forced disappearances in occupied Kashmir and urged them to use good offices and help the families in tracing their dear ones.
“We have thousands of half-widows and orphans waiting for the day when their pain and agony will end. It is a great human tragedy that they are not in a position to declare the disappeared dead or alive,” the statement deplored.
