Karachi: The Wheat Traders Association of Pakistan (WTAP) has advised that the export cost for Pakistani Wheat is US$ 305 +/MT FOB Karachi. The current increase in the support price will further increase this cost. It is to be noted that India and black sea prices consisting of Russian / Ukraine origin are at around US$ 240/- to US$ 260/MT which has made the Pakistani export not only difficult but nearly impossible in world’s markets.
The Wheat exporters have painstakingly built-up export markets in the recent past which now will be lost to our competitors. WTAP requests the Government to seriously look at ways to decrease the input cost to farmers so that Wheat can be produced and exported at competitive prices as both our farmers and exporters have a tremendous potential of producing bumper wheat crops. This will also ensure affordable prices to our countrymen.
