Islamabad, April 03, 2014 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister’s Special Envoy, Ambassador Javed Malik while addressing the Leaders Conference in Islamabad has said that we are living through a time of rapid transition where technology, communication and innovation have re-defined the way in which states conduct their foreign policy.

In modern times, diplomacy can no longer be limited to a few members of an exclusive group as was the case in the past. In today’s globally interdependent world modern concepts like trade diplomacy, business diplomacy, cultural diplomacy and sport diplomacy are equally important which opens the doors for citizens, businessmen, artists and even sports persons to work towards positively projecting their country’s image and paving the way for strong, dynamic and holistic bilateral relations to flourish. Speaking about his role as Prime Minister’s Special Envoy on Investment, Ambassador Javed Malik highlighted the fact that being able to represent a government which is transparent, free from corruption and open to supporting the businessmen and investors is an advantage, and said that “ under Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s leadership the present government is focused on providing good governance for the masses, and ensure that the business community is facilitated through ease in doing business, and this is the main reason that has attracted businessmen and investors to look towards Pakistan.

Ambassador Javed Malik, said that in the world of international relations and diplomacy there is a growing realization that in order to meet the demands of modern day foreign relations, both the traditional forms of diplomacy which is conducted through foreign offices, embassies, consulates, and foreign offices and the non traditional forms of diplomacy such as business, trade and economic diplomacy should go hand in hand and complement one another. This creates a win-win partnership to collectively work towards preserving our national interests as well a building positive goodwill about a country and its global presence.

Appreciating the role of the our foreign office, Ambassador Javed Malik said that the Pakistan foreign service has some excellent and talented officers who are doing a wonderful service for Pakistan and as citizens of Pakistan and those, like us, who have official roles can work to complement each other in the nation building process and play a meaningful role towards enhancing Pakistan’s positive image globally.

Other speakers on the occasion included Federal Ministers, Ministers of State, Chairmen and CEOs of leading business groups, academic and entrepreneurs.
