Islamabad: The newly appointed Inspector General of National Highways and Motorway Police Mr. Wajid Ali Durrani has taken over the charge of his post as I.G. of NH and MP, today. He is the 9th Inspector General of National Highways and Motorway Police.
Before his posting as I.G. NH and MP, he is said to have an excellent track record of Professional competence in Police department. He held numerous important assignments in 7th Districts of Sindh. He has also served as DIG Traffic Karachi, DIG special branch, additional IGP Sindh, IGP, Islamabad and IGP Sindh in his 33 years of service. He was awarded President Police Medal (PPM) in 1983 and Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal (QPM) in 1985 in recognition of his gallantry in service.
On his arrival at NH and MP Headquarters at Islamabad, Guard of Honour was presented to him by smartly dressed Police cops. He was introduced with his Staff Officers. In his opening address he emphasized upon the senior officers to promote help culture and courtesy with the road users, as this is the hallmark of the success of NH and MP.
He also directed the SSPs to extend their patrolling hours and in case of any accident they should reach the spot of accident as early as possible, as the safety of human lives is our prime responsibility. He said that no overloading in PSV vehicles would be allowed at any cost. He said that we have to work with more enthusiasm to enhance credibility level of NH and MP at national and international level.
