VoV condemns fresh arrest spree in Baramulla

Srinagar, November 25, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Voice of Victims (VoV), a local human rights forum, has condemned the fresh arrest spree in Baramulla and the use of teargas shells and pepper gas on the peaceful demonstrators in the town.

The VoV Executive Director, Abdul Qadeer, castigated the authorities for crackdown in the area. He said that at least a dozen of youth including Abdul Qayoom Najar, Nazim Sheikh, Arfan Ahmad Mir, Shoaib Farooq, Arshad Ahmad Mir, Mohsin Solah, Shahid Butt and Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh had been arrested by Indian police for unknown reasons.

He also condemned the harsh actions of the police during which they beat up innocent persons, use teargas shells and other deadly gases against poor people. He urged the international human rights organisations to take strong note of the recent arrest spree of innocent youth in Baramulla.
