Video shows troops damaging public property in IHK

Srinagar, March 18, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, a video showing personnel of Indian paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force ((CRPF) going berserk in Nawab Bazaar area of Srinagar has gone viral on social networking websites.

The 11-minute grainy video clip titled ‘Nawab Bazar Kani Jung’, which has apparently been shot with a mobile camera from a nearby building in the area and uploaded on the YouTube widely shared on Facebook and Twitter, is drawing severe condemnation from the users.

In the shaky video, CRPF troopers, carrying rifles, batons and shields are seen going berserk while chasing groups of protesters. An armoured vehicle is seen chasing the protesters.

Besides smashing windowpanes of residential houses with stones and sticks, the troopers in video are seen tearing off tarpaulin sheet of a shop. The troopers can also be seen kicking doors of residential houses. As the troopers retreat, a bulletproof jeep escorts them.
