Srinagar, January 09, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the forum led by the veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has criticised the recent judicial verdicts against Kashmiri youth, terming them as politically motivated. A spokesman for the forum in a statement said that two youth, Fayaz Ahmad Shah (Bab Nar, Shopian) and Mohammad Syed Butt (Bijbehara, Islamabad) who had been in police custody for last seven years had been awarded life imprisonment by a session court without any crime.
The spokesman, while expressing his deep anguish and sorrow over the verdict, said that the judgment was biased and had been issued at the instigation of ruling party and the puppet administration.
The spokesman said that the authorities were implicating innocent youth in fake cases under the garb of judiciary. He added that the court had no jurisdiction to sue the political prisoners under criminal laws as laid in the United Nations Charter.
The spokesman said, “The said youth were arrested for no reason and now under the garb of law, the puppet administration is hell-bent upon making their future bleak.” “The verdict is political vengeance and there is no space in a civilized and democratic set-up for such type of immoral and unconstitutional actions”, he added.
He appealed to the international human rights organizations including Amnesty International to take cognisance of the grave situation and impress upon India and the occupation authorities to adhere to the international guidelines with respect to these prisoners and use its office to stress the concern quarters to set free all prisoners without any delay.
