Valley continues to remain cut off from rest of world

Srinagar, January 08, 2017 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Kashmir Valley remained cut off from the rest of the world for the third consecutive day, today, due to heavy snowfall in many areas over the past five days.

The main Srinagar-Jammu Highway, which connects the Kashmir Valley with rest of the world, remained closed for the third consecutive day as the road has been blocked by snowfall and landslides at several places, an official said. He said that efforts were on to restore the highway at the earliest.

The air traffic to and from Srinagar International Airport also remained suspended for the third day as the runway has been blocked by snow.

Normal life across the Valley remained paralysed as the authorities failed to clear the snow even from main roads of Srinagar city and other inter-district routes.
