Islamabad, July 30, 2012 (PPI-OT): The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Islamabad seeks a temporary full time visa officer from approximately 1st September 2012 to 1st June 2013, preferably a EU citizen.
The role of the visa assistant is to assist and work closely with the visa attaché, Immigration attaché, as well as the other local staff in all their work related to the immigration field. Our Embassy in Islamabad is responsible of handling immigration cases for Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Work duties can among others include receiving and organizing incoming applications, interviewing visa applicants, verifying documents and other case related preparations. The visa assistant will also follow up requests and communicate with applicants and references, interact with the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI), and take DNA tests of applicants when requested.
If the visa assistant is an EU citizen, he/she can in addition issue visa stickers and assist with visa appeals.
We are looking for a responsible, service-minded, and flexible person with fluency in English. Experience from related work is a requirement, and familiarity with the Schengen Visa Code is an asset. Also, as most of the case handling will be done electronically, we consider it to be a precondition that the right candidate has good technical insight and excellent command of the Microsoft Office programs.
The visa assistant will be employed on local staff conditions. The salary is competitive and will be based on education background and former work experience. Interested candidates are requested to send in their CV and a cover letter stating their motivations for applying.
