London, May 30, 2014 (PPI-OT): Legendary Pakistani ghazal singer of Patiala Gharana Ustad Ghulam Ali visited Pakistan High Commission London on 27 May 2014. Acting High Commissioner Mohammad Imran Mirza warmly welcomed Ustad Ghulam Ali and paid rich tribute to his unique and popular singing. He commended the maestro’s role in promoting Pakistani music across the world.
Mr Mirza said the Government was committed to promoting Pakistan’s art and culture at the international level. In this regard, Pakistan High Commission was planning to organize his concert later this year in the UK where the singer enjoys great popularity. Ustad Ghulam Ali agreed to the proposal of his concert in the UK.
Ustad Ghulam Ali is considered to be one of the best ghazal singers of this era. His style and variations in singing ghazals have been recognized as unique and unparalleled. He is also known for blending gharana-gaayaki into ghazal and this gives his singing the power to mesmerize the audience.
He is immensely popular in South Asia as well as amongst South Asian diaspora in the UK, the US and the Middle Eastern countries. Senior Broadcaster Durdana Ansari OBE accompanied Ghulam Ali during his visit to the High Commission.
