Islamabad, January 19, 2016 (PPI-OT): Up-gradation and rehabilitation work on all major roads of the Federal Capital is in full swing. Heavy machinery has started carpeting of roads in Sector F-6, which include Markaz F-6 and Agha Khan Road. While repair and maintenance work of streets in Sector F-6/1 and F-6/3 is also in progress.
Under the rehabilitation plan, work on all major roads and avenues of the city has been started simultaneously. In first phase, up-gradation and rehabilitation work on all roads in Sector G-6, including Municipal Road, Ata Turk Avenue (East), Sadr Road, Suharwardy Road and Begum Sarfaraz Iqbal Road has been completed on war footing.
Similarly, repair maintenance work of streets and carpeting of roads in Sector G-11/1, G-11/2, F-11/1, F-11/2 and F-7 has been completed. Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), Maroof Afzal directed Engineering Wing to utilize the available resources and expedite the pace of rehabilitation and up-gradation work of roads and streets of the Capital city, adding that after completion of work, up-gradation and rehabilitation work on the next phase could be started.
Chairman CDA said that fund amounting to Rs.150 million has been allocated for up-gradation of rusted sewerage system, adding that the existing sewerage system was constructed in 1960, which has completed its time. With the increase in population in the Federal Capital, up-gradation the existing sewerage system is the dire need of the hour, he added. He said that all available resources would be utilized for this purpose.
Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal said that Environment has chalked out a comprehensive plan to rehabilitate all 180 parks of the city. He said that during the first phase of the project; mega parks including Lake View Park, Kachnar Park, Rose and Jasmine Garden, Daman-e-Koh and Zoo area are being upgraded. He said that uplift of kids play areas, refurbishment of different installation, up-gradation of footpaths and provision of proper lightening system are under the scope of this project.
Chairman CDA added that special focus has been given to uplift the children parks and in this context 15 number of children parks in the city would be upgraded with added facilities. He also said that in addition to renovation of parks facilities, different walking tracks in the city would also be up-graded to ensure state-of-the-art recreational and healthy facilities in all parts of the city.
Chairman CDA further said that in addition to the developed parks, different facilities like walking tracks and small parks in the green areas will be also uplifted. Chairman CDA added that project of miniature garden has also been envisaged and it has been planned to establish Islamabad’s first miniature garden in F-9 Fatima Jinnah Park.
