Srinagar, April 08, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, a team led by human rights activist, Mohammad Ahsan Untoo, has briefed members of visiting Amnesty International delegation about the appalling human rights situation in the territory.
Muhammad Ahsan Untoo during his meeting with the Amnesty team said that India had been subjecting the people of Kashmir to the worst kind of persecution.
Mentioning the current wave of arrests and harassment of the Kashmiri youth by the Indian police and paramilitary troops, the human rights activist said that educated Kashmiris wearing cap and supporting beard were the special target of police in and outside the occupied territory.
He also informed the team about booking students under draconian law, Public Safety Act.
The three-member Amnesty team comprising G Anantha Padmanabhan, V K Shashi Kumar and Miss Christine is on a visit to the territory.
