Unluckily the germs of corruption have been spread in all the society: Minister for Information

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Inter Provincial Coordination, Mian Iftikhar Hussain has said that unluckily the germs of corruption have been spread in all the society and even no section was safe from the cancer of corruption. He added that today’s corruption has become so scientific that its tracing out was very difficult.

Therefore, the government’s steps, laws and rules and regulations were not even enough to completely root out the menace of corruption but for this purpose, first of all we should have to prepare ourselves and would have to change the thinking of the whole society particularly the younger generation.

These views he expressed while addressing a seminar on the eve of “International Corruption Day” held at Nishtar Hall Peshawar on Friday. Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Syed Masood Kausar was chief guest on the occasion.

The seminar was also addressed by Provincial Additional Chief Secretary Attaullah Khan, Secretary Establishment Muhammad Arifeen and Director General NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Brig. Retd. Mussadiq Hussain Abbasi. The seminar was largely attended by officers of all the government departments.

The Information Minister said that he was feeling pleasure over the fact that the sense for eradication of corruption was there on international level but added that it was rather a problem of developing countries and for crushing this menace what to say about a day or a week but even a year time will also not sufficient.

It needed continuous struggle to root it out from the society. He said that he personally was very against the corruption and till date has never committed corruption of a single penny nor has supported corrupt elements. He said it was a sorrowful moment that as compared to past, there was no dearth of corrupt people in our society today and inspite of hectic search honest people could not be find which he termed as a great tragedy.

Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that today we should pledged not to commit corruption by ourselves nor offer it to others and for this purpose beginning should be started from our own home. The minister said that the terrorism and militancy was the bad shape of corruption which certain people were linking with religion and trying to prove it legitimate with one way or another and under its disguise were shedding the blood of innocent people. He said that it was not permissible under any ideology or religion of the world.

The Information Minister said that democracy was the best system for eradication of corruption wherein the government was directly answerable to the people. However, he said that if the present democratic system was derailed, the menace of corruption would be increased manifold.

The main cause of the corruption in our country was derailing of the democratic system time and again and the regimes of dictatorship in the country proved main cause of the spread of corruption, he concluded.
