Lahore, April 24, 2013 (PPI-OT): US Economic Officer Matan Meyer has said that Pakistani businessmen should explore American market that offers huge opportunities in all sectors of the economy.
The US Economic Officer was talking to Chairman PIAF Malik Tahir Javaid here on Wednesday. PIAF Executive Member Sheikh Muhammad Irfan was also present during the meeting that continued for well over an hour.
He said that the United States would continue to support democratic process in Pakistan and would welcome and cooperate whosoever makes government as a result of upcoming elections at national level.
He said that the world has become a global village by virtue of Information technology therefore the business community in Pakistan should get benefit for the sake of expansion of their businesses.
He said that US Embassy in Pakistan would continue to facilitate genuine Pakistani businesses in the larger interests of bilateral relation between Pakistan and the United States.
Matan Meyer said that since the cost of doing business in other parts of the world is fast going up therefore there are chances that Pakistani products would get a respectable place in American market.
PIAF Chairman Malik Thair Javaid gave a detailed briefing to the US official about the working of PIAF. He informed him the the economy in Pakistan is in dire need of handholding as the challenges it has been facing for the last many years are deepening with every passing day.
He said that Energy is an area that holds huge opportunities for US businessmen therefore they should come forward to make fortunes in this sector. He said that they could also initiate Joint Ventures with their Pakistani counterparts.
The PIAF Chairman said that US should provide duty free access to Pakistan so that the country could overcome its economic issues.
He also urged the US official to bring a delegation of US businessmen to Pakistan so that they could be able to have a closer look to the available business opportunities here in Pakistan.
He said that a catalogue exhibition by the US companies in Lahore could also bring the sides further close.
