United States’ consulate Mary Mcbride Band wows music lovers at Pakistan American Cultural Center

Karachi, February 25, 2015 (PPI-OT): The Mary McBride Band wowed more than 200 music lovers at the Pakistan American Cultural Center (PACC) with an alluring medley of Americana favourites. Mary McBride and her band are in Karachi for the second time at the invitation of the U.S. Consulate.

“We are happy to welcome Mary McBride and her band back to Karachi,” said U.S. Consulate Cultural Attaché Priscilla Guzman. “From the audience reaction, it was obvious that Mary McBride and her style of music are a big hit in Karachi.”

The musical event is one of many organized by the U.S. Consulate for cultural diplomacy. “These events,” said Ms. Guzman, “help us convey the importance of tolerance, respect and mutual understanding. Music has a way of bringing people together like nothing else can.”

Mary McBride and her band have released four albums – “Everything Seemed Alright,” “By Any Other Name,” “Every Day Is a Holiday,” and “The Way Home.” As a cultural envoy for the U.S. Department of State, Mary McBride and her band have performed in more than 20 countries, including Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Afghanistan, and Russia.

Band members include John Kengla on guitar, Jon Spurney on keyboard, Greg Beshers on bass, and Mark Stepro on drums. For more information on U.S. government sponsored cultural programs, please go to www.eca.state.gov.
