Karachi, April 22, 2013 (PPI-OT): Consul General Michael Dodman celebrated Earth Day by hosting 40 children between the ages of 8 -12 at U.S. Consulate General Karachi. The children learned three techniques to protect the earth: reduce, reuse and recycle.
To demonstrate these principles, the children joined the Consul General in reusing newspapers to make paper hats and planting three trees at the Consulate. Speaking at the event, Consul General Dodman said, “These trees, planted at the U.S. Consulate, will remain here for many years as a symbol of our friendship.
They will remind us of the importance of protecting the environment and that this is an obligation the United States and Pakistan undertakes together”. The Consulate also organized a drawing contest for the children on the theme of Earth Day. The children produced beautiful paintings that were moving examples of how children innately understand the importance of protecting the environment.
