Islamabad, August 26, 2013 (PPI-OT): The High Commissioner of United Kingdom Mr. Adam Thomson called on the Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan here in Islamabad today.
The meeting discussed the issues of mutual interest relating to the security situation in the region especially in context of the drawdown of American forces from Afghanistan in 2014.The capacity building of the security apparatus, counter terrorism issues with special focus on the specialist courses on counter terrorism, anti-radicalization and narcotics control were also discussed in the meeting.
To fast track the pending visa issues between the British High Commission and the Government of Pakistan, the British High Commissioner proposed the formation of a committee comprising of the officers from the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Agencies.
The Federal Minister said that his Government wants to build ties with Britain to the mutual benefit of both countries and to extend the cooperation beyond the current bilateral issues of terrorism, immigration, narcotics control and money laundering to a broader spectrum.
