Karachi, October 27, 2017 (PPI-OT):The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has invited the attention of the Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to the income tax burden on pensioners, widows and senior citizens on earnings from Behbood and pension funds and urged him to direct the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to remove the anomalies and spare the affected.
President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver said although the finance minister (FM) senator Ishaq Dar ordered the FBR to remove the anomalies and also instructed the National Savings Centre (NSC) accordingly to do the needful yet the notification has not been issued although the last date for filing the returns is 31st October 2017.
Thaver lamented that it has become difficult for the sector to file returns without the proper notification clarifying the position. The Union has therefore sought the immediate intervention of the PM in the matter for the issuance of the notification and extension in the last date for filing of the returns upto 30th November 2017. The Union reiterated that Pakistan is a welfare state and it is incumbent on the state to care for its senior citizens, widows, pensioners and families of the shaheeds.
