Unemployment is one of the major causes behind terrorism and extremism: Dr Farooq

Karachi, October 18, 2012 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Dr Farooq Sattar has said that unemployment had been one of the major causes behind the spread of terrorism and extremism in the country for whose elimination collective efforts were required in society.

This he stated while addressing as the chief guest at the Third Global HR Excellence Awards-2012 at a local hotel on Wednesday night. Acting Sindh Governor Nisar Ahmed Khuhro presided over the ceremony.

As many as 29 prominent Pakistani and multinational companies were conferred the Third Global HR Excellence Awards-2012 at a marvellous and well-attended award ceremony organized jointly by Global Media Links and Better Pakistan Forum.

Federal Minister Dr Farooq Sattar and Acting Governor both handed out awards to HR managers of winning companies.

In his speech, Dr Farooq Sattar said that he felt immense pleasure while participating in the award ceremony while representing the federal government as the award show was truly unique due to the chosen topic.

He said the award ceremony was also exclusive due to the fact that the programme was endorsed by three international organizations.

Dr Sattar also lauded the efforts and vision of chief organizer of the event Mr. Musaddiq Aziz and his teammates as they had organized a programme, which would go a long way in promoting soft and progressive image of Pakistan.

He said that such events also played their vital role in lessening the social menace of unemployment in the country as they provide a mutual interactive platform for fresh graduates of universities and colleges and job providing corporate entities.

In his speech, Acting Governor Nisar Khuhro said that this is the fifth time, he had been participating in any event organized by Better Pakistan Forum and with passage of every event, the next one was organized and executed superbly with application of better event management skills.

Prominent personalities from different walks of life attended the ceremony in large number especially representatives of award winning and participating companies that belonged to every sphere of national trade, business, and industrial sectors.

Among the 29 award companies, nine companies were those, which secured the coveted HR Excellence Awards in two different categories due to their extraordinary performance in arena of human resource management.

The keynote addresses of the ceremony, on the topic of best HR practices, were delivered by Lt Gen (retired) Javed Zia, former Corps Commander Quetta and former adjutant-general at GHQ; and Kalim A. Siddiqui, chairman Better Pakistan Forum.

Zaheer Baig, head of jury and chief advisor Better Pakistan Forum, delivered the welcome speech of the ceremony and shed light on rigorous selection criteria for choosing award winners for 3rd HR Excellence Awards-2012. He also highlighted salient features of profiles of the award winning companies.

He said in his welcome speech that for the first time, three prominent international organizations had endorsed the 3rd HR Excellence Awards-2012. These organizations included G2 Management Consultants Europe and Middle East, G2 Training, and British Asian Culture.

He said that 3rd HR Excellence Awards had also gained prominence among its competitor award shows and counterpart organizations active in the country as it was being organized with support of several international affiliations.

He said that HR Excellence Awards secured all these distinctions and achievements in just three years of its foundation.

In the end, CEO of Global Media Links, Musaddiq Aziz delivered vote of thanks for participants and supporters of the HR wards’ ceremony.
