UNDP, Government of Balochistan, and the University of Balochistan launch Government Innovation Lab to find innovative solutions to development challenges

Quetta, May 28, 2019 (PPI-OT): The Government of Balochistan, University of Balochistan and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) signed a letter of agreement today to launch a new Government innovation lab to support the provincial Government of Balochistan identify solutions which will help accelerate progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Letter of Agreement was signed jointly by Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, Finance Minister, Government of Balochistan, Dr. Javeid Iqbal, Vice-Chancellor, University of Balochistan and Ignacio Artaza, Resident Representative a.i., UNDP. The Government innovation lab will align closely with the Government of Balochistan’s development priorities and will help improve public service delivery and create livelihood and entrepreneurship opportunities in Balochistan province.

By engaging multiple stakeholders and with citizen and community engagement at the centre of its work, the Government innovation lab will be user-led, prototyping provincial policies using foresight tools, human-centered design, co-design and technology to develop effective and transformational approaches for service delivery and economic empowerment.
