Srinagar, May 30, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) leaders have urged the United Nations to set up a tribunal on Kashmir for prosecuting the Indian troops involved in perpetrating genocides and crimes against women in the territory.
The APHC leaders, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Yasmeen Raja, Syed Bashir Andrabi and Hakeem Abdur Rasheed visited Shopian and paid glowing tributes to Kashmiri women Aasiya and Neelofar on their martyrdom anniversary. Aasiya and Neelofar were abducted, raped and subsequently killed by Indian men in uniform in 2009.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion, they said that for the last over seven decades India had been using rape as an instrument to crush the freedom sentiment of the people of Kashmir but could not succeed in its designs as the Kashmiris never succumbed before its military might. They e said that Shopian tragedy was another black chapter in the history of Kashmir like Kunanposhpora mass rape and other tragedies.
The APHC leaders deplored that India was shielding the culprits involved in the double rape and murder case and the perpetrators were roaming free even after five years.
They urged the United Nations to establish international crimes tribunal on Kashmir for prosecuting the Indian troops involved in perpetrating genocide and other gross human rights violations in the occupied territory.
They said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs would not be allowed to go waste and the ongoing liberation movement would be taken to its logical conclusion at all costs.
