UN silence encourages India to continue HR abuses in IOK

Srinagar, January 31, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (G) Secretary General, Shabbir Ahmad Shah has said that the silence of United Nations and world leadership is encouraging Indian occupational forces to continue their grave human rights violations in the territory.

Shabbir Ahmad Shah in a statement issued in Srinagar, while terming the resolution of Kashmir dispute as vital for world peace, said, “Kashmiri people continue to offer immense sacrifices for the freedom from India and silence of the UN and world leadership over the lingering dispute and situation in the territory boosts and encourages the forces to continue human rights violations.”

He said the UN cannot get away from its responsibilities towards Kashmir dispute and has to resolve it like East Timur and South Sudan. “We reiterate that if Kashmir dispute is prolonged further, it will prove detrimental to peace in South Asia,” he added. Shabbir Ahmad Shah paid tributes to Wamiq Farooq and other martyrs of 2010 on their 6th anniversary. “The 2010 martyrs are the assets and heroes of our freedom movement. We continue to feel the pain over the loss of those young ones and can very well understand the plight of their families,” he maintained.

On Shabbir Shah’s directive, a delegation led by Mukhtar Ahmad Sofi, visited the family members of Wamiq Farooq and expressed solidarity with them. The delegation also participated in the prayers session on the occasion and prayed for all the martyrs of Kashmir. The delegation included Imtiyaz Ahmad, Muhammad Yousuf and Raja Aijaz.
