Srinagar, May 30, 2014 (PPI-OT): The High Court Bar Association of occupied Kashmir has said the only option available in case Article 370 is abrogated is the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions.
The HCBA in a statement after its executive committee meeting in Srinagar said: “Article 370 owes its origin to the United Nations resolutions because those resolutions have not been implemented so far and if the Indian government is interested to abrogate Article 370, then the only option available to it is to implement the Security Council resolutions and give the people their right of self-determination.”
The Bar association said that it was true that the people of Kashmir had a verdict of the World Body in the shape of 18 resolutions of Security Council of UN in their favour and a debate on the abrogation or non-abrogation of Article 370 should have no impact on their cherished and guaranteed right to self-determination.
“But that does not mean that we should eschew our responsibilities and remain silent spectators to the developments which are taking place around us and avoid discussing those development in their appropriate perspective at this stage,” the Bar said.
