Syed Ali Gilani in a statement in Srinagar appealed to the World Body to pressurize India to implement the UN resolutions on Kashmir to pave way for permanent peace and prosperity in the South Asian region. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in his address to Juma congregation in Srinagar said that the UN report reflected the ground situation of occupied Kashmir and detailed how the people of the territory were denied all freedoms and justice. Muhammad Yasin Malik said that at a time when oppressed Kashmiris felt to have been abandoned by the international community, this report highlighting their miseries had actually come as a ray of hope to them. Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo and other Hurriyat leaders in their statements also appreciated the UN report.
Meanwhile, thousands of people, today, attended the funeral of senior journalist and Chief Editor of English daily “Rising Kashmir” Shujaat Bukhari at his ancestral hometown of Kreeri in Baramulla district. The funeral prayers were attended among others by the resistance leaders, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar, Dr Nayeem Gilani and Dr Naseem Gilani. Many Kashmir watchers in their social media posts and writings also pointed towards the Indian secret agencies as being the mastermind of the incident. They have said that the assassinations of many Shujaat-like Kashmiri journalists and intellectuals in the past have been proved by investigations as the doing of Indian secret agencies.
On the other hand, Tehreek-e-Muzahamat delegations visited different areas of Srinagar, Shopian and Pulwama and expressed solidarity with the families of the youth martyred by the troops. Hurriyat leader, Imtiaz Ahmed Reshi addressing a public gathering at Gulab Bagh in Srinagar said that the people of Kashmir and Palestine were offering huge sacrifices for securing their right to self-determination but the international community was turning a blind eye to their sufferings.
