Islamabad, September 01, 2015 (PPI-OT):There was a call on by the Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan S. Babur Girgin to the Minister of State for Education Engr Muhammad Baligh Ur Rahman at his office today. Turkish Ambassador proposed to establish Madrassas/Schools based on the Imam Hatip (Khatib) Schools system in Turkey. He also briefed the Minister of State about the research which shows the results on the comparison of Pakistani Madrassas and Turkish Madrassas.
Strong Pakistan means strong Turkey, said the Ambassador. Minister of State told the Ambassador that the current government is already working on the National Education Policy 2009 in which they plan to incorporate the madrassa education based on the Imam Hatip system, which will be approved after the deliberation and suggestions of all the provinces. He further told that we would like to work in collaboration with the Turkish Education Ministry, Turkish Religious Ministry and Religious Affairs Ministry Pakistan in order to formulate a better policy regarding Madrassa Education.
Instead of reinventing the wheel we should learn from our Turkish brothers as far as religious education is concerned, said the Minister. Minister of State also met with the Managing Director Suzuki Motors Mr. Nagao at his office. Mr. Nagao briefed the Minister of State Engr Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman about the special Motor bike of Suzuki made especially for the Police which will be launched this month.
They also talked about education projects in the country, State Minister asked the MD Suzuki to work with the Federal Government and invest in “Own a School” project as the part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). For this project only Rs. 1 lac is required to establish one school, and it is our collective responsibility to work for the betterment of education in Pakistan, stated the Minister.
He also met with Mr. Ayub Khoso later in the afternoon, to discuss educational projects which are going on in the country. They talked about the importance of non formal schools and social service programs on television, it is our utmost responsibility to show such programs in order to create awareness among masses regarding education, emphasized the Minister.
Minister of State told that our ministry is already working on non formal schools which are running under the umbrella of NCHD (National Commission for Human Development) and BECS (Basic Education Community Schools). In the end Minister of State said that we should promote these schools where formal school cannot be established and further added that many students from BECS have achieved excellence in their lives.
